Zambia Isanya Estate - 16 oz bag
This coffee is light and fruity.
Flavor Profile: White peach, semisweet chocolate, pink apple, good balance
Behind the beans: The Isanya Estate is part of the Rain Forest Alliance (RFA) and grows arabica coffee beans. These coffee beans are grown in the Northern Province of Zambia at an elevation of 5400 feet (1650 meters) and are washed. The beans are rated AA/AAA where AA signifies the largest, premium-sized beans and AAA indicates an even higher standard, referring to extra-bold, premium-grade beans.
Origin Story: Isanya means ‘great plain on a mountain’. This picturesque farm is located between Lake Chila and Mount Nsunzu. In 1918, a British pilot crashed on the estate and fell in love with the nurse who saved his life in the local hospital. After marrying, the couple decided to start farming the fertile lands. Originally growing food crops for the local market, Isanya planted its first coffee in 1980 alongside maize and has gradually migrated to 100% coffee production.
The estate is divided between sustainably irrigated coffee plantings and 565 hectares of conservation area and environmental buffer zones.
